Your visit
Most people swipe a health fund card and walk out having paid the gap. If you are on a Medicare care plan, a DVA card, a motor vehicle claim or a workers compensation claim, here is exactly what to bring.
Most patients claim through private health extras — Northern Beaches Chiropractic has HICAPS, so the rebate is processed at the appointment and you pay only the gap. Eligible visits under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan are bulk billed. DVA cardholders with a valid GP referral are billed directly to DVA. Motor vehicle and workers compensation claims can be billed to the claim once you have a claim number.

Clear, objective and clinically grounded. Treating practitioner reports prepared from the clinical record.
Not for a standard appointment. Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners in Australia, so you can book directly. A referral is only required for specific funding pathways — Medicare chronic condition management, DVA, and some insurance or compensation claims.
Most people use private health extras or pay privately. Medicare applies only through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. DVA applies to eligible Veteran Card holders. Motor vehicle claims run through the Insurance Commission of WA. NDIS rarely covers chiropractic, because clinical treatment of health conditions is generally the health system's responsibility.
Not for the same visit. You cannot claim a Medicare benefit and a private health benefit for the same service. Across different visits or different conditions the position can differ — ask when you book.
Funding rules change. The regulatory statements across these pages were checked against Services Australia, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the NDIS and the Insurance Commission of Western Australia in August 2026, and each page lists its sources. None of it is financial or legal advice, and your own fund, plan or claims officer is always the authority on your situation.
Get in touch before you book and we will point you at the right pathway.
